Position Summary:

The Sales Logistics Specialist seeks new business opportunities to secure freight and strengthen relationships. The role ultimately selects, moves, and manages freight profitability.

Business Relationships

Seek new business opportunities by prospecting new carriers and strengthening relationships with current ones through negotiating rates and closing deals in an open transactional selling environment.

Carrier Collaboration. Evaluates carrier resources, to align their operational capabilities, in a way that ensures the freight needs of the customer.

Rate review. Reviews data from scheduled or as needed reporting, to understand freight characteristics, economics, and profitability, applying it to future market conditions.

Internal Teamwork. Interacts with others internally, in a way that shares relevant information in a timely way, that allows the team to grow together.

Interpersonal Capability. Expresses a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, positive attitude that encourages customer and employee confidence and reflects our core values.

Sales Planning. Develops personal, recurring 12-month sales plan, reflecting areas that can include sales, revenue, load count, and gross profit, which are reviewed quarterly for progress and results.

Project Management

Embrace the fast-paced work environment and take ownership of the freight by thinking critically and making quick decisions to manage freight pick up and ensure on time delivery.

Rate Management. Manages and negotiates rates, based on current market conditions, to optimize the freight movement for the customer.

Freight Coordination. Selects the carriers, meeting the freight requirements, then manages the freight from shipper to consignee.

Carrier Qualification. Reviews carrier operational soundness, to determine eligibility under IKON standards, which ultimately align with the service levels required by our customers.

Driver Communication. Interacts with drivers to know their availability and location, connecting that information back to the customer’s needs and process.

Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience and Education/Certification/Licensure:

1-2 years professional work experience. These are the work types that our customers connect with interpersonally.

Technology. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
